Mathias Bolt Lesniak

I live outside Oslo, Norway, with my Kiwi wife and two kids. I am the official project ambassador of the TYPO3 CMS project, promoting our CMS and working to increase the impact of open source through increased community engagement and cross-community collaboration among FOSS projects.

In 2003 I crashed my first TYPO3 installation by trying to change too many configuration settings before testing if what I had downloaded could actually run. I gave up and tried to write my own CMS. The attempt failed. I crawled back to TYPO3 six months later and have never looked back. It is a good story a reminder that every expert started out as a newbie.

I am an experienced and lively public speaker who loves to create engagement in open source communities by highlighting the connection between code and society at large. I have done numerous conference keynotes and motivational talks centering on topics less commonly addressed — but vitally important to open source success.
